Without doubt a highlight of the year is the Parson’s Sportive. Meandering through the gentle back lanes of Norfolk riders choose their course and enjoy the scenery.
A truly ‘something for everyone’ event with short family rides taking place alongside the seasoned 100 milers and everything in between. It all makes for a great atmosphere out on course and it’s certainly no hardship for me travelling to and from different shooting positions to cover the action throughout the day. When the weather plays its part there’s no better place to be and the cycling community always brings its incurable humour out for the ride.
The local clubs and teams are unsurprisingly well represented, but many other dedicated riders travel from across the UK to participate. It doesn’t hurt that the ride starts and finishes at an excellent country pub! I enjoy the mix during sportives from the chain gang coordinated teams to the lone wolf warriors all providing fresh visual opportunities.
